Library of Things and Library of Things Jr.
The Library of Things (LoT) is a unique collection of physical items that can be checked out just like books. We have a diverse collection ranging from sewing machines to metal detectors to snow shoes. In December 2023 we introduced a Jr. collection with STEM items like coding robots, remote controlled cars, musical instruments and more. LoT Jr. was made possible with a grant from the Hastings Elks Lodge #1965.
Any Lakeland Library Cooperative patron 18 years of age or older can check out LoT items in person at the library with exceptions noted below. Bring in your library card and an ID, review & sign the LoT Agreement and enjoy your item for one or three weeks depending on the Thing.
Notes:
- LoT items cannot be renewed.
- Thing availability subject to change.
- Hotspots and Museum Passes can only be checked out by Hastings Public Library card holders.
- Hotspots cannot be checked out on newly opened accounts. Patrons must wait 30 days from account creation.
